HALF MARATHON &
5K COURSESBoth courses
begin and end in Vets Park, behind the Ice Arena (636 E 66th St), cover
very flat terrain, and pass through shaded residential neighborhoods,
past neighborhood park, and through green spaces like Taft Park, Wood Lake Nature Center, and Augsburg Park. The half
marathon course is certified by the USATF (MN19025RR). Your
time can be used for some wave qualifications for the Twin Cities
Marathon (visit www.mtcmarathon.org
for more information).
New in 2019: the courses are closed loops, so they start and end at the same location!
Note: this elevation profile is for the old course, but is very similar to the updated course
half-marathon course measures as very flat, great for a
best or qualifying time for another race (the course is
USATF-certified). View elevation graph below (the steepest,
only notable, rise in the course is a 0.5-mile stretch coming out of
Wood Lake, which is a 1.6% grade....less than most railroad beds).

regularly-maintained crushed limestone surface.
Times will be recorded for 3.5
hours for the half marathon and the 5K; the courses close at
10:30 am, at which time, traffic is no longer controlled
and intersections must re-open. Services will be
provided for all participants maintaining this pace (approximately a
16-minute mile pace for the half marathon). As the race
passes through the course at this pace, streets along the course will
be re-opened to traffic. For safety reasons, Half Marathon
runners will not be allowed to start the course 10 minutes after the

for runners to relax and interact and for families to play during the
