HALF MARATHON & 5K COURSES

Both courses begin and end in Vets
Park, behind the Ice Arena (636 E 66th St), cover very flat terrain, and
pass through shaded residential neighborhoods, past neighborhood park, and
through three natural areas: Wood Lake, Richfield Lake, and Vets Park.
The half marathon course is certified by the USATF (MN08032.RR). Your
time can be used for some wave qualifications for the Twin Cities Marathon
(visit www.mtcmarathon.org for more
information). |

START/FINISH
LINES
The UWHM5K begins and ends at Veterans Memorial Park. Vets Park has plenty of grassy
areas for runners to relax and interact and for families to play during the before, during
and after the race. Bagels and fruit will be available at the finish line. All
participants will receive a free pass to the Richfield Outdoor Pool, located
near
the finish line.
MEDICAL AID
Medical aid will be available at each of these
water stops, as well as the finish line (both staffed care and self-care).
WATER/SPORTS DRINK
Water stops will be positioned at miles 3, 5 ,7 ,9, 10, 11, & 12, and
at the finish line.
In addition to water,
Powerade will also be available at water stops 7, 9, 11, and the finish line.
All beverages are served in biodegradable cups. |
RESTROOMS
Portable bathrooms will be available at all water
stops (miles 3, 5 ,7 ,9, 10, 11, & 12) and at the start and
finish lines. Indoor bathrooms are available for use at the Richfield
Ice Arena.
STROLLERS/ROLLER BLADES
For the safety of everyone, strollers and roller blades will not be permitted on the
courses.
COURSE CLOSURE
Times will be recorded for 3.5 hours for the half marathon and the 5K.
Services will be provided for all participants maintaining this pace
(approximately a 16-minute mile pace for the half marathon). As the
race passes through the course at this pace, streets along the course will
be re-opened to traffic. |
