2013 GRAND MARSHAL: TERRY HITCHCOCK

Terry Hitchcock, author of the successful book, American Business: The Last Hurrah? and A Father's Odyssey, and subject of the 2009 documentary, My Run, narrated by Academy-Award-Winner Billy Bob Thornton, will be our 2013 Grand Marshal!

Having never been a runner before, Terry began running to honor his late wife, Terry, and his children. In 1996, he ran the equivalent of 75 marathons in 75 consecutive days, arriving at the opening ceremonies of the '96 Summer Olympics.

Terry has devoted his life to spreading the message that nothing is impossible and the impossible is possible. The Urban Wildland Half Marathon & 5K is honored to have Terry as our 2013 Grand Marshal. Read more about Terry at his website.

For eleven years, the Urban Wildland proceeds have funded the 42-year environmental education partnership between Wood Lake Nature Center and Richfield Public Schools, which was in jeopardy after funding cuts were made in 2003. CARBON CAPTURE GARDEN
$1 of each race registration funds the purchase and planting of hardwood rain forest trees at the Santa Familia Primary School in Belize, to offset the carbon footprint of the race.
